Had a night on the pop at a party on Saturday and finally got to bed at
1.30am, so when the alarm clock went off this morning at 6, I wasn't
altogether convinced of the merits of leaving my warm bed to drive to
Littlestone and climb into the sea in howling wind and rain. BUT, I'm glad
I did! Finally got on the water with my Fanatic Freewave 85 that I bought
months ago, but hadn't yet had the chance to sail. I had a very tentative
sail today - new board, long time off the water, unfamiliar spot and a lack
of fitness meant I didn't go venturing miles out to see. It was a case of
hop on, blast out a few hundred metres, fall in, waterstart, sail back to
the beach and then walk back up to where I started from! I was well powered
on my 4.7, and had some fun rides. Today was what I needed to get a bit of
confidence back after a couple of months of almost no sailing. The board
was suprisingly easy to sail, and I'm looking forward to another go in
slightly less manic conditions on Tuesday. Sill, a couple of hours from
7.30am - 9.30am put a smile on my face today,. Had to race home then to
meet my GF's foks that were visiting, and cook luch. More wine inside me
now - I think I'll be going to bed at 8.00pm....
Good to see the whole Camber crew today - think I left at the right time as
it sounds like it went mental after that with 3.7 weather and blinding
rain.
